CCCC Celebrates National Manufacturing Day: Inspiring the Next Generation of Innovators

On October 4, Central Carolina Community College (CCCC) hosted its annual National Manufacturing Day, a vibrant celebration of the region’s thriving manufacturing sector. The event, held at the E. Eugene Moore Manufacturing and Biotech Solutions Center, brought together over 1,000 participants, including students, industry leaders, and local officials, to explore the exciting world of manufacturing.

With over 30 local companies participating, attendees were treated to hands-on demonstrations, career presentations, and insights into the advanced technologies driving the industry. The event aimed to inspire middle and high school students, showing them the diverse opportunities available in manufacturing right in their own communities.

CCCC President Dr. Lisa M. Chapman emphasized the event’s importance in supporting workforce development, highlighting the strong partnerships between the college, local industries, and schools. “Any career they want is right here, and the developing talent pipeline is strong,” Chapman said.

The day was filled with engaging activities, including welding demonstrations and robotics displays. Local companies like Caterpillar, Mertek Solutions, and Wolfspeed showcased cutting-edge innovations, while attendees enjoyed a community-focused atmosphere.

Sanford Mayor Rebecca Wyhof Salmon and Lee County Commissioner Taylor Vorbeck echoed the excitement, underscoring the significance of manufacturing as the backbone of the local economy and a key driver of future growth.

As the event concluded, the energy and enthusiasm left a lasting impact, proving that National Manufacturing Day is not only a celebration of industry but also a powerful platform for education, collaboration, and community building.
